HIMALAVA CAFE
The cafe is a sister venture of Tour de Outdoors, and as the name suggests, is an ode to the Himalayas, meant for the mountain folk living city lives. The name is a play on Himalayas and Lava, capturing both, the essence of cool mountain ranges from the former, and the heat from the latter, in the menu.
The brief for the branding was to encapsulate the awe associated with sunrises on the Himalayas. I chose the iconic mastiff of the Kanchenjunga range, the range that first made the founder fall in love with the Himalayas as a visual representation on the branding. A simplistic, linear but slightly detailed approach was used to create the logo in an outer circular shell, that resonates with the sense of belonging to the mountains.
The prototype visual language for the cafe was created using the cool hues of the mountains against stark igneous black tones, making use of the detailed liner approach from the logo, but now, evolved to represent mountainous topography.
